About the Artist
TOMMY
TURNER
Known as SAVO, I am a San Diegan whose roots are embedded in the streets of St. Paul and San Diego. I came up in the golden era of hip-hop — shaped by the culture, the cipher, the block, and the wall. Graffiti wasn’t a phase for me; it was my foundation.
That graffiti foundation evolved into fine art, muralism, public installations, and apparel — all carrying the same DNA: raw, intentional, community-first. Through my creative platform, Tha Block, I explore identity, resilience, transformation, and neighborhood revitalization. My work has reached spaces like Comic-Con, TwitchCon, and exhibitions across California and nationwide.
Every piece I create carries the weight of where I am from and the vision of where my community is going. Street art elevated. Hip-hop honored. Tha Block represented.

TRANSFORM
NEIGHBORHOODS
Blank walls invite vandalism. A mural invites community. SAVO has spent years proving that public art is not decoration — it’s infrastructure for neighborhood revitalization. Every wall painted is a conversation started, a block reclaimed, a story told.

Culture, Community, and Real-World Impact
SAVO’s work moves beyond decoration. His art has appeared in schools, businesses, cultural spaces, festivals, collector homes, and public-facing environments where creativity becomes part of the atmosphere.
School Impact
School Murals
SAVO hand-painted five murals throughout a La Mesa school, transforming the lobby and lunchroom into warm, inviting spaces. The murals continue to serve as backdrops for student artwork, selfies, holidays, special occasions, and school photo moments.
Business & Culture
Cultural Business Artwork
At Viejas Reservation Outlet, SAVO created artwork that brought identity, beauty, and cultural presence into a Native-owned business space. The mural became part of the atmosphere and received immediate response from customers.
Public Connection
Art In The Wild
SAVO’s artwork continues to connect directly with the public through festivals, pop-ups, live events, comic conventions, and community gatherings, including strong sales and audience response at the Juneteenth Kinfolk Festival.
