Behind The Art: Lion and Lamb
Behind The Art
Lion and Lamb
There is a quiet kind of strength that does not need to roar all the time.
Lion and Lamb came from an image that had been floating around in my head for years. I have always liked painting animals, but this one felt different. It was not just about painting a lion or a lamb. It was about the balance between the two.
The lion represents strength, courage, protection, leadership, and power. The lamb represents gentleness, peace, innocence, humility, and trust. I wanted both energies in the same piece because I believe we need both in life. We need the lion when it is time to stand firm, protect what matters, and move with courage. We need the lamb when it is time to be gentle, patient, peaceful, and open.
There is also a spiritual feeling behind the image. The Bible speaks of the wolf and the lamb, and Christ is often referred to through the symbolism of both the lion and the lamb. I did not want the piece to feel preachy. I wanted it to feel like a reminder: strength does not have to lose its softness, and peace does not mean weakness.
As an artist, I am always interested in contrast — light and dark, pain and healing, power and humility, survival and transformation. Lion and Lamb fits into that part of my work. It is about duality. It is about becoming whole. It is about carrying power without losing grace.
This piece is for people who understand that real strength is not only in the roar. Sometimes it is in restraint, faith, patience, and peace.
