Behind The Art: Black Panther
Black Panther was bigger than a superhero.
When that movie hit, it felt like a cultural moment. Not just because it was Marvel, but because of what it represented. Strength, royalty, identity, legacy, technology, ancestry, and Black excellence on a world stage.
As somebody who grew up loving comics and tracing characters early in my art journey, Black Panther already meant something to me. But seeing the character become that powerful in the culture was different.
It made people proud.
You saw kids, adults, families, artists, collectors, and comic fans all connecting to the same image. That is powerful. Art can do that. Stories can do that. They can make people see themselves with more pride, more imagination, and more possibility.
That is what I wanted this painting to carry.
I wanted it to feel bold, regal, and alive. Not just a portrait of a character, but a symbol of power, culture, and representation.
Black Panther reminds me that imagination matters. The characters we grow up with can shape how we see courage, leadership, and identity.
This piece is my tribute to that feeling.
A reminder that heroes can come from culture, from history, from community, and from the imagination of people who needed to see themselves as powerful.
